• Abilities: Rio runs a largescale counterfeiting gang with lower levels of drug dealing and the like. He's got a great mind for business and logistics/strategies.
• Strengths:
Charismatic: Rio is very good at being charming when he wants to be. He knows how to affect people's emotions and actions for better or for worse. He is very calculating in how he communicates and plays everything like it's part of a bigger strategy and he's looking at all the possibilities. He's very smooth in his method of communication, delivering threats and compliments with ease that they almost intermingle the same way.
Innovative: Rio's extremely successful in his business because he is an innovator. He's from the start known when to start when to change up his game. It's an integral part of his personality as he is constantly fluid and adjusting to situations and reacting to the environment as it changes. He doesn't want for it to be necessary and is always looking for the next opportunity and stepping stone. He is never unhappy with where he is but knows that it's only temporary if he doesn't want to get caught.
Honorable: While Rio is a rather ruthless gang leader, he has a strict code of honor. He believes that people are responsible for their own actions. He doesn't allow them to pawn off their problems on him or make excuses even if they accidentally get in over their head. He will go through with what he says he will do and he expects other people to do the same or face the consequences of it. He never involves children directly in anything that he does.
• Weaknesses:
Ruthless: Rio is a ruthless gang leader. While he can be sociable and friendly it's often a sugary veneer for a sinister orders or points that he's making. He does not easily forgive people who betray him. When a young member of the gang is caught by the FBI and starts to flip on people in Rio's gang and their activities he has him killed. He makes Beth, Annie and Ruby prove their loyalty by driving empty trucks without plates regardless of the danger that puts them into potentially. Once he realizes that people will be a liability he is quick to have them disposed of one way or another.
Criminal: Needless to say, by most standards being a criminal isn't a strength by society's standards. He's very good at being a criminal mastermind but it does leave him in precarious positions. He has things he wants to protect and he has not chosen the safest way of life to do that from.
Manipulative: It is the other side of the coin to Rio's charm. He's able to manipulate people and he doesn't really feel any moral hiccups about doing so. While he's not entirely heartless, people, for the most part, are just pawns on a chessboard. He doesn't mind hurting people or using them if it gets him what he wants.
• Nightmares: Rio doesn't have that many nightmares. The only thing that really gets under his skin is something bad happening to his son.
